T.O.P’s Drug Overdose & Suicide Attempt Rumors In 2008 Resurface
Reports confirm that T.O.P is still currently in the intensive care unit, contrary to circulating rumors that the idol has been taken out of the ICU, as his name was not on the list of patients anymore. The hospital confirms that the Big Bang member is still recovering from his drug overdose but T.O.P's parents have asked the hospital to take out T.O.P's name off the list. The reason for the request is still unknown.
In light of this recent drug overdose incident, T.O.P's past rumors of suicide attempt have resurfaced. For those who weren't K-pop fans yet - in 2008, Big Bang 's T.O.P allegedly attempted suicide via drug overdose. On November 5, 2008, T.O.P was rushed to the hospital at 1 pm for "exhaustion and overfatigue". YG Entertainment was quick to release a statement regarding the idol's condition, saying, "T.O.P. was hospitalized due to fatigue and exhaustion from preparing the new album and the concerts in Japan."
T.O.P himself shut down the rumors, saying, "It was just an accumulation of fatigue due to album preparations and having a few drinks at my birthday party. I was not attempting suicide. And I have no reason to do so." Despite the denial of T.O.P and YG Entertainment, media reports speculated during the aftermath and suggested T.O.P attempted suicide due to a break-up with then-rumored girlfriend Shin Min Ah. Rumors spread like wildfire, leaving Big Bang fans on edge. Netizens started believing that the idol was suicidal and that his "fatigue" was just a cover-up for his drug overdose.
