BLU R1 Latest News & Update

Android Marshmallow powers the latest R1 from BLU, a company known for manufacturing mid-range and low-range smartphones. Set to have a price tag of $160, the device is believed to be above par at best.

Android Marshmallow-Run R1's Low Price Draws Attention

The Android Marshmallow-powered R1 comes with a 5.5-inch display and 720p resolution with 3GB of RAM, including 1.3GHz quad core and MediaTek 6737 processor. The new smartphone also features a 13MP rear camera that is expected to produce high-quality pictures as it pairs with an 8MP front camera. Moreover, it boasts of a battery life that is believed to be the phone's biggest asset given the size of 4000mAh.

However, while BLU manages to include notable specs and features to its R1, reports suggest that powering the device with Android Marshmallow is not a good choice considering that the operating system is already two years old. Nevertheless, BLU's lowly capped price is expected to attract some customers.

At $160, the smartphone is likely to draw attention. However, tech experts believe that R1 is unlikely to compete with other smartphones in the market if BLU will stick with Android Marshmallow, Android and Me reported.

New Parental Control App From Samsung Has Nothing To Do With Android Marshmallow

Samsung recently launched an app called Marshmallow that allows parents to monitor their children's smartphone usage. However, the app that relies on the positive reinforcement has nothing to do with Android Marshmallow.

The new app Marshmallow, meantime, encourages liberal parental control by giving rewards to the child for choosing to use less on their own. With the proper usage of the phone, the child is given Marshmallow points and badges for the achievements, which can be redeemed for sweet loot such as real gift cards from Amazon, Best Buy or The Church of New England Dunkin' Donuts, Android Police reported.
