A new "Game Of Thrones" spinoff will soon inevitably replace the hit TV series as it reaches its end, but nobody expected that there's this much more to come. Author George R. R. Martin's fantasy epic "A song of Ice and Fire" have amassed quite an enormous fan-base.

It would only be natural for HBO to seek out the best viable replacement for their hit series as fans would undoubtedly be clamoring for more. Based on what recent sources are suggesting, the fans might be getting more than they bargained for.

According to EW, there would be not just one "Game Of Thrones' Spinoff, but a staggering four more spinoffs to come. At this moment, there's not much information about the spinoffs except for the fact that these will "explore different time periods" in the R.R. Martin epic.

In addition, it's reported that Martin himself will be involved in the "Game Of Thrones" spinoff, along with notable names such as "Kong: Skull Island" writer Max Borenstein and "X-Men: First Class" writer Jane Goldman. It's still unclear how HBO will handle the upcoming spinoffs. The TV program explained that the projects could end up being a series, a miniseries or a combination of both, but the main goal is coming up with a solid successor to "Game Of Thrones."

As for the author, Martin certainly has a lot on his plate, specially since he will also release yet another "Game Of Thrones" spinoff, this time in the form of a short story. According to IGN, the 68-year-old author is going to release a new short story in the upcoming fantasy anthology "The Book of Swords."

The short story is titled "The Sons of the Dragon", and it focuses on the history of two Targaryen kings. Martin's "Game Of Thrones" spinoff story was originally part of the "World Of Ice and Fire" book but never made it to the final product. It's also worth noting that Martin's story is only one of the sixteen new stories that the "Book of Swords" anthology has to offer. The "Game Of Thrones" author will be joined by various notable fantasy writers as well, such as K.J. Parker, Robin Hobb and Ellen Kushner among many others.
