'Vikings' Season 5 spoilers

Lagertha may find herself with a new ally when History premieres "Vikings" Season 5. Actress Kathryn Winnick, who plays the role of the newly minted Kattegat queen, has teased the arrival of a new character by the name of King Angantyr who is rumored to have ties with Lagertha and her son Bjorn Ironside.

Kathryn Winnick dropped the hint about the new character when she used the hashtag # KingAngantyr in an Instagram post she made as she was flanked by her two brothers. Winnick shared that she and her real-life siblings will be featured in a scene together in the upcoming "Vikings" Season 5.

According to a report by CP, there are several Angantyrs in history. The new character may be a reference to Angantyr the Berserker, a conqueror who died in the Battle of Uppsala in an attempt to win the hand of a woman named Ingeborg. The ghost of Angantyr the Berserker reportedly clung to his sword Tyrfing which led to the death of his grandson Angantyr Hofundsson. There was a third Angantyr in history, Angantyr Heidreksson, considered as one of the ancestors of the Swedish House of Munso.

Based on the report, King Angantyr may have a connection with Lagertha since the daughter of the first the Angantyr named Hervor became a shieldmaiden like Lagertha. The report implied that if there was a link between Hervor and Lagertha, an alliance with his line may be possible in "Vikings" Season 5. Another clue for a possible connection is that both Bjorn and King Angantyr are both described in history as ancestors of the House of Munso.

If Lagertha forms an alliance with King Angantyr, this may prove to be handy in her eventual face off with Harald, who seeks to conquer Kattegat along with other lands. Early reports hinted that the battle is imminent in "Vikings" Season 5 and that Lagertha may be at the losing end of the stick, Korea Portal reported.
