PlayStation Vita News: The PS Vita Is Not Dead Yet; Handheld Console Thrives In Japan
On PlayStation Vita News, Sony states that the PS Vita is not dead yet. A representative from Sony confirms it is still working on games for the handheld console, according to PlayStationLifestyle.net.
A week ago, Sony Computer Entertainment Executive Vice President Masayasu Ito said in a statement that they are not working on any first-party games for the PS Vita. The company instead is focusing on the PlayStation 4 these days.
"Since third-parties are working very hard on PS Vita, SCE's own strategy is to focus on PS4, which is a new platform," Masayasu added.
"To clarify what was said about Vita, which was either misinterpreted or misreported: I think what was said was that we're no longer in the business of triple-A development of games for Vita," said Jim Ryan, SCEEE President and CEO, on an interview with VG247. "But there is still first-party Vita content being worked upon."
There will not be any triple-A games for the moment but there will be some games yet in development for the hand held console, according to Digital Spy.
The statement from Ryan connects with what Shuhei Yoshida, Sony President, that it is still not time to make another handheld to succeed the PS Vita, accordin got NZGAMER.com. Sony will leave developments for future PS Vita games to third parties who are working hard to make more.
On other PlayStation Vita news, while the PS Vita is suffering in the West in terms of the number of games to play with, it is thriving in Japan with a lot of third party games and indie titles, according to sources. There are numerous triple-A games being produced in that country for the handheld console and even the predecessor, the PlayStation Portable or the PSP, still has games being created.
