AMC's seventh season of "The Walking Dead" was indeed a gory installment as quite a number of characters bowed down from the show. It may well seem that more characters will be chopped off from the long-running series and even Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) will not be spared.

Fans were left heart-broken with several "The Walking Dead" characters being killed off during season 7 with Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) being one of the most heart and gut wrenching. Showrunner Scott M. Gimple was even quoted early on that nobody will have a safe passage from getting axed from the series - not even the level-headed Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). That being said, rumor mills have been spinning as of late that the deputy sheriff might be axed next season, NME reported.

Lincoln, on the other hand, spoke with Comicbook as he revealed that he already flipped some pages of the season 8 script of "The Walking Dead." The actor expressed his excitement about the upcoming installment adding that it will be an insane season.

Reports are also getting rife that a couple more good guys will be entering the fray next season. As per TVLine, the characters' names are Dillon and Abbud. The former was described by the publication as a character on his/her 20s whose ways of survival include sarcasm. The latter is a Muslim American with nerves that are pretty much shaken as he roamed the zombie-laden America on his own for far too long.

Meanwhile, Gimple seemed to have listened to "The Walking Dead" fandom as he promised that its eighth season will be fast paced as compared to the previous one. Followers of the show were quite irked with some of the episodes in season 7 as some of it were deemed too slow and there were even instances that a character or two were not shown during the episode's run.

Albeit the rumored delay due to the Writers Guild of America strike, "The Walking Dead" Season 8 will premiere sometime in October as it sizzler reel is expected to be dropped during the San Diego Comic-Con event in July. Check out a video about the show here:
