Star Wars: Episode IX, Frozen 2 & Indiana Jones Get Release Dates
Three major feature films from Disney and Lucasfilms have confirmed release dates: Star Wars: Episode IX, Frozen 2, and Indiana Jones. Walt Disney and Lucasfilms announced today that the sequel to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: Episode IX, which will be directed by Colin Trevorrow, is set to release on May 24, 2019 while another installment of Indiana Jones is scheduled to hit the silver screen on July 10, 2020, which was originally slated to release in July 19, 2019.
Unlike previous Star Wars films, Star Wars: Episode IX is hitting the screens ahead of the usual December premiere. This will be a bit of a big change for the Star Wars brand, as previous spin-offs were always given a Christmas opening. Fans will also have to wait an entire year between the Han Solo film, which will open on May 25, 2018, and Episode IX.
No specific plot details have been released yet for Episode IX, other than the fact that the late Carrie Fisher won't be appearing in it, contrary to rumors. However, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac are all expected to return to reprise their roles. What we also know is that this will answer questions that are left in The Last Jedi. Star Wars: Episode IX will be the ninth installment that will continue the saga, which started in 1977.
Another highly anticipated film slated for a 2019 release aside from Star Wars: Episode IX is the sequel to children's favorite Frozen. Frozen 2 will be shown in theatres on November 27, 2019. Other films that have already been given release dates by Disney include Lion King, which will be shown on July 19, 2019 and Wreck-It Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 on November 21, 2018.
