‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon’ Ends With High Ratings; Park Hyung Sik, Park Bo Young Praised By Director
"Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" ended its nearly two-month broadcast with viewership shares that set a new record for the South Korean cable channel JTBC. Meanwhile, the drama's director conveyed his appreciation for Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young's participation in the said series.
Avid Kdrama fans recently bid farewell to the drama couple Min Hyuk and Bong Soon, portrayed by Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young, respectively. "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" aired its final episode on April 15, Saturday, with TV ratings at an impressive level for a cable channel drama.
"Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" episode 16 posted viewership shares of 8.6 percent across the South Korean nation, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Korea Herald. In the Seoul metropolitan area, the JTBC drama registered ratings of 9.6 percent.
Despite not reaching the coveted 10 percent mark, Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young's series became JTBC's highest rated drama. "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" broke the said cable channel's previous record posted by the 2014 drama "Secret Love Affair" that reached peak ratings of 5.4 percent.
Meanwhile, "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" capped off its 16-episode run with a finale episode that boasted of several romantic scenes between Min Hyuk and Bong Soon. It also featured storyline progressions that fulfilled what many viewers wanted to see such as the wedding scene between the two protagonists and a quick glimpse at the married couple's life with their twin Herculean baby daughters.
In other news, "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" director Lee Hyung Min shared his thoughts about working with Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young. In an interview with Korean news outlet OSEN, the filmmaker praised the two celebrities for their onscreen chemistry and acting talent.
The JTBC drama was a valuable experience for Park Hyung Sik since the Kpop idol turned actor was able to learn more about acting while having fun at the filming set, according to the director. He also indicated how he would like "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" to be considered one of Park Bo Young's memorable drama projects.
