‘X-Files’ Revival Release Date Confirmed For 2016; Promo Video Leaked!
If you ever missed the horror science-fiction drama that marked 90's TV screens, we have good news for you: an all-new "X-Files" revival is set for 2016 release, with a promotional video now available online as reported by TV Line.
News about the upcoming "X-Files" revival was announced on March this year, returning to TV screens as a six-episode miniseries. Filming has been completed on Sept. 3 and the first episode premiered at the recently-concluded New York Comic Con on Saturday, Oct. 10.
"X-Files" is one of the most popular TV series in the 90's, running from 1993 to 2002 with a total of 202 episodes divided into 9 seasons. The story focuses on FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they investigate unsolved cases that involve paranormal elements. The series was created by Chris Carter and produced by 20th Century Fox.
Original lead actors David Duchonvy and Gillian Anderson - playing Fox Mulder and Dana Scully respectively - will return to reprise their roles for the upcoming "X Files" revival. Both of them expressed their excitement to return to the roles that solidified their respective acting careers.
At the New York Comic Con, Carter announced that the half of the episodes cover the alien mythology arc of the series, while the other half are standalone episodes that are written by Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong according to an earlier report by Den of Geek.
Another thing that made fans excited for the upcoming revival is that the iconic opening sequence will still be used. This is the one and only opening sequence used for all the 202 episodes of the original series.
The all-new "X-Files" revival is set to premiere at 10 PM on Jan. 24, 2016 with the follow-up episode to premiere the next day at 8:00 PM - the latter in which the remaining episodes will also set to premiere as the series goes.
