"Pokemon Go" continues to be one of the popular mobile gaming apps available in the market with Niantic looking to introduce several enhancements to the game. Avid fans can expect to see more Legendary Pokemon creatures, as well as changes to gym battles.

When "Pokemon Go" was released in July 2016, many gamers around the world took to the streets to capture various Pokemon creatures and hone their skills by joining gym battles. With the game close to reaching its first-year anniversary, it appears that Niantic is planning to deploy several major changes to the said mobile gaming app.

In a recent interview with the Wired's German team, as cited by Nintendo Everything, Niantic's boss John Hawke shared some of the gaming company's plans for "Pokemon Go." Acknowledging some of the game's improvement areas, the gaming executive revealed that they are looking to enhance gym battles to further increase moments where gamers can play together.

With plans to overhaul some of the gameplay elements of "Pokemon Go" gym battles, Hawke shared that the enhancements will entice players to team up with friends or new gaming buddies. The Niantic head stated, "We will overhaul this aspect of the game to ensure more teamwork and to give people a bigger incentive to receive the rewards from gym battles."

Moreover, Niantic is also planning to introduce more Legendary Pokemon creatures in upcoming updates. When asked whether "Pokemon Go" gamers will soon see fan favorites such as Mew, Mewtwo or elemental birds, Hanke confirmed that similar characters will be added to the mobile gaming app this year.

In other news, the mobile gaming app's Senior Product Manager Tatsuo Nomura shared in an earlier interview with Polygon that Niantic might introduce the highly-awaited trading feature in "Pokemon Go" but the Pokemon exchange will not happen through the internet. Gamers may be able to trade game characters with another player within a certain distance, according to Nomura.

At this time, it is unclear whether Niantic will introduce Pokemon trading in an upcoming update. Totsura mentioned that the gaming company is still ironing out the elements of the said feature before it can be deployed to "Pokemon Go."
