'Mary Poppins Return's News & Update: Emily Blunt To Play Lead Role Julie Andrews
Disney classic's Mary Poppins may have started a long time ago, in 1964 to be exact. However, it has always sent excitement to everyone, may it be a fan or not. Fortunately, there's "Mary Poppins Returns" with Emily Blunt taking the lead character.
In the comeback of Mary Poppins with "Mary Poppins Returns," Emily Blunt will play Julie Andrews role, moving forward to the year of the Great Depression. It will also show the already grown-up family of Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael (Ben Wishaw) Banks together with Bank's three kids.
After a horrible incident that involved a personal loss, it left the family's life with no joy, the Bank's ex-nanny had provided a return visit and this has never been possible if not with the help of Jack, the lamplighter, who was played by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Her return allowed her to bring back joy and wonder with the use of her magical skills.
"Mary Poppins Returns" will also feature the comeback of one of its original cast, Dick Van Dyke. However, he will not play his original role as Bert instead, he will take the role of the villain Mr. Dawes Sr. This role has also been played by Dyke previously.
The anticipated Disney film, "Mary Poppins Returns" will also star Meryl Streep as Topsy, Colin Firth as William Weatherall Wilkins, Angela Lansbury as Balloon Lady, and Jeremy Swift as Gooding.
Emily Blunts upcoming movie, "Mary Poppins Return," was directed and produced by Rob Marshall, which was based on David Magee's screenplay. It comes with new songs created by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman and an original score by Marc. (via Independent)
