Park Hyung Sik, Park Bo Young’s ‘Strong Woman Do Bong Soon’ Records Impressive Ratings During Debut Week

The South Korean cable channel JTBC found a new hit drama on its Friday-Saturday late night broadcast schedule. Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young's romantic comedy series "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" posted high TV ratings during its premiere week.

"Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" is off to an impressive start with its first two episodes registering strong ratings for a cable channel drama. Released on Feb. 24, the first episode posted viewership shares of 3.8 percent and 4.04 percent across the nation and the Seoul metropolitan area, respectively, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Korea Herald.

The JTBC drama's second episode that aired on Feb. 25 showed an increase in ratings with a nationwide viewership share of 5.75 percent. Across Seoul, the said episode posted TV ratings of 6.04 percent.

Given the impressive viewership levels of Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young's new drama, "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" became JTBC's highly-rated series. Avid fans of the show can also expect the production's lead stars to fulfill their ratings promise in the near future.

In an earlier interview, the cast members promised to accompany five lucky viewers on their way home should the JTBC show's ratings reach 3 percent, Soompi reported. Moreover, the drama's five lead stars will each randomly pick a viewer who would typically go home all alone and at a late hour.

At this time, it is still unclear if the cast members will be able to arrange the said special fan service in the coming weeks. The production is currently busy completing weekly filming requirements for the JTBC drama.

Meanwhile, "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" marked the first time that Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young starred together in a drama. The two South Korean celebrities portray the lead characters Min Hyuk and Bong Soon, respectively.

"Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" airs every Friday and Saturday on JTBC. The drama is expected to complete its 16-episode run in mid-April.
