'Chief Kim' Reigns No. 1 TV Drama, Nielsen Ratings Reveal; 'Humor Makes The Show Popular' Says Namgoon

"Chief Kim" Tops The Nielsen Korean Ratings Survey For TV Drama
The popular KBS' drama "Chief Kim" remains to top the drama of its time slot. Based on the Feb. 17 result of a survey conducted by Nielsen Korean, a broadcasting ratings company, the show's eighth episode that premiered on Feb. 16 was able to hit a new ratings high.
"Chief Kim" brought a rating of 17.6 percent, which is reported to be a 1.5 percent higher from the show's seventh episode rating of 16.1 percent. Meantime, "Saimdang, Light's Diary" from SBS ranks second with its rating of 10.3 percent, an increase from its past episode's 9.7 percent rating. Moreover, MBC's "Missing 9" was able to get a rating of 4.3 percent, which is reported to be slightly higher from its previous episode's 4 percent.
Meanwhile, "Chief Kim" cast will reportedly keep up their ratings promise, which was earlier revealed, as the show's rating increased by over 15 percent. "Chief Kim" premieres every Wednesday and Thursdays and can be seen exclusively on Vik, Music Times reported.
Namgoong Shares Reason Behind "Chief Kim's" Popularity
"Chief Kim's" Namgoong Min, who is now at the center of the popularity of the show, plays the character of Kim Sung Ryong. Based on reviews, the actor is doing an amazing job of bringing the show to life. In a recent interview, he shares some of his thoughts on what seems to make "Chief Kim" so popular these days.
According to Namgoong, "Chief Kim" has become popular because of its humor and how it makes viewers relate so easily. He noted that the show can be enjoyed by the viewers without having to think so much, and that the actors give a lively attitude towards their work, which he believes is also felt by the viewers, Soompi reported.
