"The Vampire Diaries" is going to come to an end in less than a month and it is definitely going to be a bittersweet goodbye. It has been confirmed that the major cast members will return for the series finale including Nina Dobrev who plays the role of Elena. Given how the events are unfolding in the series many fans are starting to speculate who is going to die next.

The latest speculations hint that one of the Salvatore brothers is going to be gone for good."The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec has been very vocal as to how she wants the series to go down. We wanted to go big, emotionally, with the action, and with the spectacular of it." She added that "We Were absolutely feeling epic."

The statements may be a bit vague but the rumor mill suggests that one of the Salvatore brothers will be gone for good. The perfect candidate at the moment is Stefan  (Paul Wesley). Despite being under the influence of Cade, Stefan still received so much hate from his family and friends after he killed Enzo right in front of Bonnie.

There are speculations that Stefan who received the cure and is not human, by the way, will give up his life to make sure that his brother Damon  (Ian Somerhalder) can be with Elena. There are also some fans who believe that Damon is the one who is going to die.

This is quite a tragic ending though and although there are also several proponents of this plot twist, it seems to be the unlikely choice for "The Vampire Diaries" finale.Aside from the Salvatore brothers, there are some speculations that either Bonnie or Matt would be the one to say goodbye during the last episode of "The Vampire Diaries." At the moment, however, it seems that the most likely scenario in "The Vampire Diaries" finale would include someone's death.
