Samsung Electronics has confirmed the official announcement date for the highly anticipated Galaxy S7. The new device will be introduced in January 2016, which is a month earlier than the announcement dates for previous Galaxy models.

Together with the introduction of the Galaxy S7 Samsung will also roll out its new business strategy, ET News reports Oct. 20. According to industry insiders, Samsung has decided to move up the Galaxy S7 launch to January to counter Apple's sales with the iPhone 6S which was launched last month.

CNET reports the same day that the South Korean tech titan has seen the first drop in its annual smartphone shipments and in July recorded its seventh consecutive decline in profit. With the early launch of the Galaxy S7, Samsung hopes to revive its profits by putting out a new flagship smartphone in the market sooner than later.

Previous Galaxy releases were launched through the Mobile World Congress trade show, which usually takes place from late February to early March.

Part of Samsung's change in its business strategy is the breaking down of its application processor (AP), dividing the company's upcoming flagship models will be divided into premium and sub-premium.

Thus, Samsung's smartphones will soon be categorized under premium, sub-premium, mid-range, and low end.

Moreover, Samsung will soon incorporate its own AP called Exynos into its smartphones. Instead of the usual ARM core, the Exynos M1 will be used for the brand's premium models.

Other AP manufacturers such as Apple, Qualcomm, and Mediatake utilize their own cores to optimize chip usage by reducing power consumption and increasing performance.

GSM Arena also notes that the S7's exterior will allegedly be made from magnesium ally. The new alloy will reportedly make the S7 sturdier while giving it a more premium feel at the same time.

The S7 also allegedly boasts the Sabre 9018AQ2M audio chip which is manufactured by ESS Technology. This will supposedly give the S7 superior audio quality.

An industry expert comments, "Although Samsung Electronics, which had been insisting on premium models, have worked preoccupy inexpensive Smartphone markets by releasing variety of inexpensive product lines recently, its AP business has not yet caught Qualcomm and Mediatek. By using its strategy to differentiate its performance with its parts from premium and inexpensive markets and pushing forward release dates of products, it will be able to increase both of its sales and power of its brand at the same time."
