A new trend in nail art called "glass nails" was started in South Korea by founder of Seoul's Unistella salon Park Eun Kyung, where nails are made to appear like sparkling gem stones, noted India Today Oct. 20.

The trend became a huge hit in South Korea that Park has collaborated with the country' leading cosmetics company Amorepacific to develop nail stickers that are based on the glass nails trend.

The process is simple. A base coat is applied under your chosen nail polish. The stickers are then piled on at your own whim and finished off with a top coat. Instant glass nails! The light-catching feature of the transparent and holographic stickers are sure to give your digits a whole lot of personality and glam.

The stickers created by Amorepacific based on Park's glass nails trend are pre-cut to fit each nail, making it easier and more convenient for anyone to apply on their nails.

According to Refinery 29 in an article published on Oct. 19, Park was also the name behind the preceded negative-space trend in nail art, a technique inspired by the skin-baring fabric cuts in fashion. The look is achieved by applying a thin strip of tape creating a striped effect that leaves a portion of your nails bare when removed after applying your favorite nail polish color(s).

The glass nails idea was inspired by the abalone, which has a shimmery pearl-like shell that glistens in different colors under the light. Park then creatively cut out a cellophane into tiny geometrical pieces and pasted them onto the nails.

The designs for glass nails are endless! Buzz Feed ran a few ideas down on Wednesday, including a layered and optical illusion, IRL-like shards and a combination of Park's glass nail and negative space nail art. The designs are basically playing around the undertones of the chosen shade of polish, as well as the sticker colors and cut.
