Human Rights Watch: 'Kim Jong-Un Birthday Celebration Only Spotlights Human Rights Violations'

Kim Jong-Un issues ban on sarcasm.

The annual celebration to come this January 8 for the 33rd birthday of North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-Un, will display obligatory songs, dances, and praises for the leader's family of the brutal ruling. Kim Jong-Un continues to rule the country by force and inflicting fear and intimidating his subordinates. This celebration will only emphasize terrible human rights violations, according to the Human Rights Watch.

"Kim Jong-Un rules based on fear and repression, just like his father and grandfather, and no amount of birthday-related propaganda is going to change that fact," said the deputy Asia director, Phil Robertson, infoZine reported. The deputy director added that the suffering of the North Korean people should be stopped. It can only be done by making Kim Jung-Un and his companions responsible for the abuses and violations inflicted on the people.

Kim Jong-Un in his 2017 New Year's speech, he said, "As I am standing here to proclaim the beginning of another year, I feel a surge of anxiety about what I should do to hold our people in greater reverence. I am hardening my resolve to seek more tasks for the sake of the people this year and make redoubled, devoted efforts to this end." Roberston expressed an opinion about Kim Jong-Un's speech by saying that he should end the "predatory policies that rely on intimidating, extorting, and abusing the North Korean people, and systematically suppressing all basic rights."

"The international community has a responsibility to help the North Korean people by stopping Kim Jong-Un's continued brutality and repression. Pursuing accountability for rights abuses is really the only way forward to achieve justice for the victims of crimes against humanity committed by the North Korean government," said Robertson.

Kim Jong-Un has been ruling for five years by controlling the people, restricting the freedom of expression, and limiting outside world information from entering the country.
