Lee Jong Suk is set to appear in MBC drama "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." The actor's cameo appearance is in support for the show and is expected to pull in ratings after the show landed in last place against other dramas in the simultaneous premieres.

Jong Suk is one of the two stars from MBC drama "W" who are set to appear briefly in the second episode of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." Along with Jong Suk is actor Park Won Sang who played as a power-hungry presidential candidate set to antagonize Lee Jong Suk's character in "W" .

Lee Jong Suk will supposedly show up in the drama as a customer at a chicken restaurant owned by Bok Joo's (Lee Sung Kyung) father. Meanwhile, Park Won Sang will play a doctor whom Jun Hyung (Nam Joo Hyuk) seeks out for advice.

"Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" is a coming-of-age sports drama, inspired by the life of Olympic gold-medalist Jang Mi-ran. Starring Lee Sung Kyung as the titular character Kim Bok Joo, this marks the actress' first leading role in the small screen. She will be reunited with actor Nam Joo Hyuk, her fellow cast in the drama "Cheese in the Trap." Joo Hyuk will portray the character of Jung Joon Hyung, a talented swimmer and Sung Kyung's best friend turned love interest.

Unfortunately, set to compete against SBS' "The Legend of the Blue Sea" starring Hallyu stars Jun Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho, and KBS' "Oh My Geum Bi," "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" only garnered 3.3 percent viewership ratings, compared to 16.4 percent and 5.9 percent total ratings of the other dramas respectively. A Hallyu star himself, it is anticipated if Lee Jong Suk's cameo could drive his fans to watch and support the drama and earn higher ratings for the sports drama.

"Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" airs on MBC every Wednesdays and Thursdays, 22:00 (KST).
