'Die Hard 6' Movie In Production Stage? Upcoming Movie To Tell Story Of Young John McClane
We all know that the last "Die Hard" film turned out pretty bad despite hitting the box office sales. Yet, are you interested to see how John McClane is like before he became the John McClane we knew from the movie franchise? "Die Hard" 6 is rumored to cover the hero's back story as reported by Deadline.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and director Len Wiseman are currently making a deal with 20th Century Fox, and both are looking for a screenwriter for the proposed plot which will focus on the young John McClane. Wisemen directed the fourth film of the franchise titled "Live Free or Die Hard" which was released in 2007, and he could possibly direct the upcoming "Die Hard 6" movie upon confirmation.
The timeline for "Die Hard 6" is set in 1979, which will show McClane's first time in crime-fighting scene as a beat cop working on New York's tough streets, with actor Bruce Willis featured in the film as the older version of the character, retelling the events from the present day, according to The Guardian.
This is not the first time rumors about "Die Hard 6" sparked. It originally started in February 2013, when Bruce Willis was asked if there would be a possibility of the sixth film which the actor simply stated "Yes." The said interview has been conducted a week before the release of "A Good Day to Die Hard" which serves as the fifth movie of the "Die Hard" franchise.
The "Die Hard" film series is based on the 1979 best-selling novel "Nothing Lasts Forever," written by Roderick Thorp. The book is actually a sequel to the 1966 novel "The Detective" which was also adapted into a movie two years later.
The titular debut film premiered in 1998 in limited release, earning a total of $140 million in box office. At present, the "Die Hard" series as a total of five movies with the last film "A Good Day to Die Hard" released in 2013.
