‘Concept Korea’ Promotes Korean Fashion in New York
A fashion event entitled "Concept Korea" which is run by the Korean government will be held in New York City on Thursday that aims to promote the Korean culture and Korean fashion.
"Concept Korea" fashion show is co-hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The fashion show started in 2010 and conducted twice a year in partnership with the New York Fashion Week in order to showcase the collections of popular fashion designers in Korea.
Designer Kim Tae-geun from YOHANIX was assigned for the three womenswear in the spring 2017 collections. Together with fellow designers Kim Hee-jin from KIMMY.J and Park Yoon-hee from GREEDILOUS, they will introduce their individual styles in the Concept Korea fashion show.
According to Kim Tae-geun, because of his appearance at the previous event, the sales of his clothing line increased. Therefore, he is anticipating for the success of the upcoming event to help promote the Korean brands further.
KOCCA will help promote the participating Korean brands to the New York fashion industry and give marketing support. The participating brands will have business opportunities, including setting up a pop-up store in Hong Kong's PMQ for a month starting in Dec. 9.
"The event will feel different as models catwalk to the tune played by a local orchestra. We hope to make the presence of Korean fashion felt in New York," KOCCA President & CEO Song Sung-gak said.
Concept Korea is a global project that promotes Korea's fashion culture around the world and sponsors domestic designer brands and opens opportunities into overseas markets. The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are partners in this year's event.
Meanwhile, the New York Orchestras Entertainment will perform during the runway show and for the finale, a K-pop song will be played.
