‘Gotham’ Season 3 Released: First Look Image At Maggie Geha As Grown Up Poison Ivy

An image of the new, grown up version of babe of botany Ivy Pepper/Poison Ivy has been released, showcasing Maggie Geha as an older version of the young mistress of horticulture previously played by Clare Foley.

The image was shared in a report by TV Insider, showing the much older Ivy transformed from the scraggly, little wallflower Clare Foley originally portrayed in the previous seasons of "Gotham." The picture showed Maggie Geha wearing a dark green dress, reflecting the color's prominence on the character from the source material as a plant-based supervillain, while she stood in a dark room with rain or watery effects plastered on the glass in front of her.

The image features the very first look that fans have at Geha as the character, which was recast from the younger Foley who played the proto Poison Ivy as an orphaned street kid with a clear connection to growing all manners of plants.

Reports of the role being recast first surfaced in early June, with the announcement of Geha's casting coming about later the same month. Despite the clear difference in age between Geha and Foley, season 3 of "Gotham" is not set to take place after a considerable time skip with the other major child characters still set to be played by the same actors.

Geha's casting as the new Ivy also marked another change for the character, with Geha reportedly being cast as a series regular for the season after Foley's scarce appearance throughout the prior storylines. Interestingly, Foley as Ivy was given heavy prominence in marketing before the beginning of the first season despite only appearing in a handful of episodes and in little more than a supporting capacity; likely because the character is one of the best known and strongest of Batman's primary antagonists.

The fact that Foley is barely through her pre-teen years did not allow for the producers of "Gotham" to utilize her better known assets, considering that Poison Ivy is one of DC Comics' sex symbols in addition to always being portrayed as a sultry temptress unafraid of using her wiles to sway men to her ecological cause.

To explain the massive difference in age, as Geha's character is supposed to be around 19 years old physically, the show will apparently embrace more of its budding supernatural side. Foley's Ivy is set to encounter "a monster from Indian Hill," likely released during the previous season's finale, with the encounter functioning like a Miracle-Gro of sorts and accelerating Ivy's age by years.

At any rate, the massive change in the character is set to bring about some sweeping changes to both the characters of "Gotham" as well as to how the viewers might perceive the show.
