The ‘Spawn’ Movie News Updates: Production To Set This Year; Creator Todd McFarlane To Direct Film?
In the recent years, many comic book fans have seen their favorite comic characters in live action through big budgets Hollywood movie projects. Few of them includes "Spiderman", "Batman" or "Superman." However, fans may be excited as early as now as news came revealing that the reboot of the1990s comic book "Spawn" will hit cinemas soon.
In a report by Comicbook, the creator of "Spawn" said that they are already finished working on the script.
"I've finished the script, and I'm in the process of editing. It's 183 pages, and [producers] usually like 120. I still think it's going to end up being about 140, because I'm putting in details for myself,"McFarlane told ComicBook when asked for an update.
In a report, McFarlane even mentioned his interest in directing the film.
"I need to get him back up on the big screen again to make him relevant in a big way, which we will do," McFarlane shared.
He even added that he wanted to keep the budget low so that producers or movie studios will let him do the directing.
"I want to keep it small, keep it tight, so they'll let me direct it!" he said.
In addition to it, the creator reportedly said that the film will be more of a horror genre than a superhero movie.
"I'd put it more into horror/suspense/supernatural genre. "The Departed meets Paranormal Activity, something like that," he revealed.
He even made a comment that his goal is to see production start in 2016.Aside from it, McFarlane is said to be releasing a "Spawn" inspired figure as part of his "Color Tops" line.
"I'm curious to see what happens when we go, 'Spawn's back and there's only one,' to see if we can get a little stampede, get people interested," he said of the new figure.
Since nothing is really confirmed yet except the script, the "Spawn" avid followers need to wait for further news updates about the upcoming movie.
