Brendan Fraser Out Of “The Mummy” Reboot; Tom Cruise To Star Lead Role On Universal’s Remake

Tom Cruise has already officially signed the contract be the lead role of the upcoming reboot of the American action adventure horror film "The Mummy," which clearly means Brendan Fraser is definitely out of the picture.

"The Mummy" reboot will be about the classic 1932 Boris Karloff adventure-horror movie which was remade into the successful fantasy action-adventure franchise that starred Rachel Weisz and Brendan Fraser in 1999.

According to one report, Cruise already signed on for Universal's remake of the successful franchise movie.

Report claimed that even though Cruise is older compared to Frasier,he is better in bringing fans into cinemas, which was already proved in his "Mission Impossible" movies in contrast with Frasier who hasn't gotten any breakout roles since the last "The Mummy" series.

The 53-year-old actor is expected to bring star power that will gain more audience appeal which is reportedly good for Universal as they introduce the mythical monster cinematic universe. Moreover, Universal hopes the connection of the movie will be set up perfectly by "The Mummy" reboot to introduce the mythology universe involving classic monsters.

Cruise will be playing the protagonist role that was once played by Brendan Fraser. Furthermore, "Kingsman: The Secret Service" Sofia Boutella is confirmed to be playing the role of the mummy or monster.

According to a report, the setting of the movie will be on the present day unlike the Fraser film. Despite the fact that there has been no confirmation with the plots or storyline yet,it was reported that the prolific producer-writer-director Alex Kurtzman will be producing and directing the adventure horror film.

Tom Cruise's "The Mummy" reboot will hit in cinemas on June 9, 2017.
