'Gravity Falls' Finale: Is Disney Starting To Focus On LGBT Heroes?

"Endings are also beginning." This statement was proved as fans already felt bittersweet as the American animated TV series "Gravity Falls" ended its Season 2 finale on Feb. 15 entitled "Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls."

Despite the ending, it is still reportedly the beginning when Disney started introducing first gay couples ever on an animated series.

According to a report, creator Alex Hirsch said that they did not want to end the famous children's animated series.

"Endings are really difficult. Whether it's the ending of a TV show, the last day of school, the ending of a job or a relationship, we don't like endings. Endings are scary," Hirsch stated.

"I think finales are incredibly hard to write. I'd say the hardest thing to write in television is a pilot, and the second-hardest thing to write is a finale," the 30-year-old "Gravity Falls" creator added.

He also elaborated the difference between the pilot and finale of the series. According to him, the people needed to be persuaded to love the animated series material, but during finale, they had to do something important that will let fans unlike the creator because they will be taking the thing away from them.

However, Hirsch had expressed his gratitude to the avid fans through posting on his official Twitter account.

Aside from thanking the fans, he had shown great debt for Disney in trusting his material.

"I don't think anyone (at Disney) believed me but they said 'Sure let's give this a try. I'm grateful to the channel for letting me tell the story the way I planned to tell it. ... I think we're in a different age of TV right now than that old classic million-season concept. I think audiences are craving different kinds of entertainment," he said.

With the ending of the famous animated series, Disney Channel made another impact and huge step moving forward by representing LGBT community through minor characters of Deputy Durland and Sheriff Blubs.

Reports claimed that it is the first time Disney Channel has introduced its first gay couple Deputy Durland and Sheriff Blubs which has long been suspected by fans to be lovers; and it was just during "Gravity Falls" finale that they confessed their love for each other.
