Tom Cruise’s ‘The Mummy’ Reboot Release Date Bumped; Movie To Pave Way For Monster Franchises ‘Invisible Man’, ‘Bride Of Frankenstein’?

Tom Cruise's "The Mummy" reboot is absolutely happening, following the actor's confirmation on the film's involvement by signing his contract. Is this just a reboot or a part of Universal Pictures' plan to do a monster movie franchise like the "Avengers" movie series?

According to Variety, the "The Mummy" reboot's original release date is supposedly March 24, 2017, however, it was then announced by Universal setting new release date on June 9 of the same year.

Reports claimed that the remake movie will be Universal's move to plan monster movie franchise which specifically aims to unite classic monster movie remakes into just one cinematic universe.

According to one report, after "The Mummy", Universal Monsterverse will start. Though  the second movie is yet to be revealed, the second unidentified monster film will be released on March 30, 2018.

Furthermore, in a report released by IBT, Ed Solomon is already hands on writing the script flow of the whole Universal's Monster Movie Universe and has Alex Kurtzman along with Chris Morgan as the producers.

There are already wide speculations that the next movie will be "The Invisible Man" wherein Johnny Depp will play the main lead. "The Invisible Man" will be reimagined according to the same movie title released way back 1933 that starred Claude Rains as scientists who discovers a way to make himself unseen by other people, but eventually loses his sanity.

According to Forbes, there are now rumors saying that Angelina Jolie and her husband Brad Pitt will be starring and directing the "Bride of Frankenstein" movie as part of the monster movie sequel.

"The Mummy" is an upcoming fantasy-adventure film remake of the original "The Mummy" film that was released in the year 1932. The confirmed stars to appear in the remake will be Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella.
