Frank Ocean Puts Aside New Album To Collaborate With Kanye West? 2016 Release Definite?
Frank Ocean has been testing the patience of fans awaiting his new album reportedly titled, "Boys Don't Cry," the follow-up to the 2012 commercial and critical success, "Channel Orange."
But it seems the enigmatic artist is not on a hiatus.
In fact, he will be among the artists featured by Kanye West in his new album, which was launched at the Madison Square Garden on Feb. 11.
"Kanye played the album off of his laptop as a crowd of models showed off his latest fashion line," Pitchfork said. "The album features Frank Ocean, Chance the Rapper, Rihanna, Future, Kirk Franklin, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Young Thug, The-Dream, Kid Cudi, and more."
It's a case of good news and bad news for fans.
Good in the sense that Frank Ocean's creative juices are still flowing, but bad in the sense that he's diverting those creative juices elsewhere other than his new album, "Boys Don't Cry."
But fans can take consolation in the latest news report that Frank Ocean is working on new material with Rich The Kid in the studio.
This was confirmed by Fader magazine after reportedly talking to a close associate of Rich The Kid.
"In the past, Frank Ocean has mainly worked with superstar rappers-Jay Z, Kanye, André 3000-and MCs from Odd Future, the collective which initially helped him earn attention as an artist," the article added.
Meanwhile, Mic.com has called out Frank Ocean over the delay of his new album, particularly with Rihanna and Drake already dropping their tracks this year.
The article said that the year for the music industry is starting on a right note, "with Rihanna, Zayn Malik, Kanye West, Drake and plenty others touting new music either on its way or already having gone platinum."
True to his character, Frank Ocean has remained mum amid the frenzy over the delay in "Boys Don't Cry."
