"Cyberpunk 2077" is turning out to be one of most highly-anticipated games of 2016 that might be available on the Xbox One this year although its release date still has to be announced.

According to Movie Pilot, the action-based RPG game produced by CD Projekt RED is "going to be one hell of a ride."

Based on its stylistically rendered trailer, the movie/tech review site expects "Cyberpunk 2077" to be "very exciting," as it will run on the same game engine - REDengine 3 - which powers the "Witcher 3."

But unlike the "Witcher" series which is set in an antiquated medieval fantasy world, "Cyberpunk 2077" takes place in a hyper-tech dystopian future which has similarities to "Blade Runner," "Rx" and" Ghost in the Shell."

"Cyberpunk 2077," which is rumored to become an Xbox One playable game, will be anchored on the basic narrative of the "Cyberpunk 2020" series of tabletop playing games.

The events in "Cyberpunk 2020" unfold in the fictional Night City on the west coast of the USA near Los Angeles.

The city is in a state of Martial Law and is being run by mega-corporations who used their money and status to take over the government after a socio-economic collapse gripped the nation.

As can be gleaned from the initial artwork of "Cyberpunk 2077," the game will have two main protagonists.

One is a female character with blades which fold out of her arms, while the other is a male with a shaved head and hexagonal, machine-like marks on his skin.

"Cyberpunk 2077" was announced way back in 2012, which created a major buzz within the gaming community.

A recent tweet from CD Projekt RED Community Lead Marcin Momot however confirmed that the futuristic game," which fans hope will have an Xbox One version, is still in the development stage.

In its earlier report, Movie Pilot predicted that "Cyberpunk 2077" could i "be the PC, PS4 and Xbox One's opportunity to have a game like 'Deus Ex reappear into our lives."

But there might be some light at the end of the tunnel for players who are itching to get their hands on the title.

PC Gamer has speculated that "Cyberpunk 2077" "might be available by the end of this year" on PCs, and possibly, Xbox One consoles, as revealed by Gamereactor Germany, which cited a source close to CD Projekt RED.
