Neil Gaiman Comes To George R. R. Martin's Rescue To Finish ‘Winds Of Winter’? Release Coming Soon?
Rumors are rife that George R.R. Martin may be getting some help from fellow award-winning author Neil Gaiman to wrap up his much-awaited book "Winds of Winter" and have it ready for release.
The talks started when it was mentioned that the "American Gods" author was in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the hometown of the "A Game of Thrones" writer.
"We can observe that another person who is very much here is George R.R. Martin," the article from Santa Fe New Mexican said.
In a blog post last month, Martin has admitted that the "Winds of Winter" is not yet ready for release. In fact, he's not even finished yet.
"Look, I have always had problems with deadlines. For whatever reason, I don't respond well to them," Martin wrote.
"Here it is, the first of January. The book is not done, not delivered. No words can change that. I tried, I promise you. I failed."
The writer admitted that the "Winds of Winter" release would not make it in time for the season 6 premiere of HBO's "Game of Thrones" this April.
Martin also said that he did not expect the series to move that fast as it has now caught up with the books.
"Look, I never thought the series could possibly catch up with the books, but it has. The show moved faster than I anticipated and I moved more slowly," Martin said.
Just how close the two authors are is not really known but Martin advertised in a blog post that the "Sandman" author recently donated signed copies of his books to one of Martin's book stores.
Meanwhile, Gaiman has come to Martin's rescue amid all the wait for the "Winds of Winter" release.
"People are not machines. Writers and artists aren't machines," Gaiman said.
"For me, I would rather read a good book, from a contented author. I don't really care what it takes to produce that," he added.
