‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Update: Johnny Depp Plays Sidekick To Javier Bardem In New Movie?
Many fans of Johnny Depp are excited to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," which is movie no. 5 in the Disney film franchise series.
However, will fans see less of Depp's character Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming movie, and more of Javier Bardem's Captain Salazar?
"'Dead Men Tell No Tales' is expected to be about ghost captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, a whole new villain who was at the receiving end of a classic Captain Jack Sparrow double-cross," Inquisitr previously reported late last year.
"Salazar has just returned from the Devil's Triangle on a mission of revenge after he believes Captain Jack killed his brother."
Despite the focus on Bardem's character, it seems that Johnny Depp will still be the main character in the new movie especially since fans of the franchise may be buying movie tickets to once again witness Jack Sparrow's antics.
Though not a lot has been revealed about "Pirates of the Caribbean 5," producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted a photo last year pegged as the first look into the upcoming film.
"Captain Jack is back and we're not letting him go," the photo was captioned.
Both Keira Knightley and Penelope Cruz are not starring in the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, but someone equally as gorgeous is reportedly set to play the leading lady in the movie.
"British actress Kaya Scodelario is playing the role of Carina Smyth," Inquisitr wrote. "She is an astronomer fighting for her right to study at the university, since women's rights back then were restrictive. "
"Where she comes into the story with Captain Jack Sparrow is with her search for the Trident of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea," the report continued. "Her diary will come into focus, and as always, Jack Sparrow will mess things up like he apparently did with Bardem's character in older days."
According to IMDB, Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem stars in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" alongside Orlando Bloom as Will Turner.
"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is expected to hit theaters in May 2017.
