By all indications, "Expendables 4" will have a 2017 release date amidst rumors that the action-packed film's cast is undergoing some major changes in its lineup.

According to the Inquisitr, there is a possibility that Sylvester Stallone will no longer reprise his role as the enigmatic Barney Ross and will instead focus his thespian abilities on more dramatic assignments.

This may come as a big disappointment to followers of the 61-year-old actor who now consider him as the face of the testosterone-fueled franchise.

"Stallone's name has always been listed first on 'Expendables' movie posters, and his persona embodies the beefcake essence the Expendables franchise is about," the Inquistr wrote.

"Expendables 4," whose release date is still under wraps, hopes to continue the high-intensity, explosion- filled tradition of the series which has endeared itself to fans across the globe.

Since the "Expendables" debuted in 2010, each of the three films have raked in about $263 million worldwide.

With each movie being allocated a budget of around $100 million, it has been able to lure in an amazing cast of A-list action stars which include, among others, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Coutre, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes and Harrison Ford.

According to Movie News Guide, "Expendables 4" still plans to bring in more popular, muscle-bound actors into its fold as the movie gears up for its 2017 release date.

There are speculations that Hulk Hogan, Steve "Stone Cold" Austin, Pierce Brosnan and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson are joining the film's already star-studded cast.

But it seems that Johnson doesn't want to be among the "good guys" in the movie but surprisingly wants to portray the role of a villain

"I don't want to be on their team and be buddies with them. F**k that noise," Johnson said. "I want to hunt every single one of them down and tell them to 'send your soul to heaven cause your  a** is mine."

"Expendables 4" may not yet have an official release date, but the film is shaping up to be another blockbuster hit with the entry of its new cast of characters.
