NBC Boss Overlooking Jimmy Fallon’s Alcoholic Rumors? ‘The Tonight Show’ Dominate Ratings!
Jimmy Fallon recently faced some nasty rumors about being an alcoholic.
Thankfully NBC defended the late night TV show host, denying that he went beyond the normal alcohol consumption.
Is the network covering up his blunder because of high ratings that "The Tonight Show" has been pulling in?
According to TV By The Numbers, the show has been leading the rating battle for the past couple of weeks despite the negative press that the former SNL host dragged around.
"The Tonight Show" reportedly attracted 3.27 million viewers in the adult 18-49 demographic in the week of Jan. 25-29.
Meanwhile, "Late Show With Stephen Colbert" held on to the second place with 2.47 million viewers, while "Jimmy Kimmel Live" got third place with 2.11 million.
The week before that, Jan. 18-22, the show amassed 3.71 million viewers. "Late Show" got 2.68 million, while Jimmy Kimmel's show managed to attract 2.17 million.
Whether he is indeed indulging too much on the spirits or not, he is definitely not letting it take over his job.
NBC boss Bob Greenblatt previously insisted that Jimmy Fallon was not a "high-functioning alcoholic" as some reports were suggesting.
"He goes out and has fun," he said. "He's had some accidents. Aside from that, he's in better shape than he's ever been."
Although he admitted that they are indeed worried about his safety, they're convinced that the 41-year-old host will stay on in the business for years.
"Jimmy will be with us for years to come," Greenblatt continued. "Perhaps long after I leave NBC and some of you leave your jobs."
Despite earlier claims that Jimmy Fallon was alcoholic and might lose his job seems to have no bearing Greenblatt himself gave his assurance that he will continue to dominate the rating battle against Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel.
