Ian Somerhalder Leaving 'Vampire Diaries' To Focus On Baby Planning With Nikki Reed?

Following Nina Dobrev's exit from "The Vampire Diaries" after a six-season stint, Ian Somerhalder, who plays as Damon Salvatore in the series, has since been rumored planning to leave after season 7 to focus on baby planning with his wife Nikki Reed.

The speculations about the actor's alleged baby plans have been fuelled with a few tabloids even noting that Somerhalder badly wants to build his own little family and is getting more desperate on having kids, according to Celeb Dirty Laundry.

Not long after the baby rumors made rounds in the headlines, a new speculation then followed, claiming that the 37-year-old actor is willing to give up "Vampire Diaries" to put his focus more on baby planning with Nikki Reed.

According to The Inquisitr, "ET shared that Ian Somerhalder is actually speaking out and revealing that they are ready to start having children, and the couple is actually trying."

When asked as to how many more seasons will he be willing to spend as Damon Salvatore in the hit series, he revealed that the show is trying to complete the season and there isn't any confirmation yet as to what might come next after it was finished.

"It's something that everyone is talking about and there is a lot of speculation about it because we're so far into it," Somerhalder told ET. "I'll be honest with you, right now we're just trying to get through this one and just make this a really, really a good season of television."

He went on saying, "We just want to get through this year and make it good and we'll see what comes about. That's all we're trying to, but you'll be the first to know."

As to whether or not Ian Somerhalder will leave the show for Nikki Reed, the actor has not clearly stated. On the other hand, the much talked about "Vampire Diaries" farewell was also reportedly due to the massive decline in the ratings since Dobrev's departure. Could the series be renewed for season 8?
