‘South Park’ Season 20 Release Date Confirmed On Sept. 21? Current Issues Still Major Topic?
There's no official release date yet for "South Park" season 20, but historically the animated series always premieres in the third week of September.
For instance, season 17 aired on Sept. 25, 2013 and the next season aired on Sept. 24, 2015. Season 19, meanwhile, premiered much earlier on Sept. 16.
According to Yibada, the release date of "South Park" season 20 is likely to be on Sept. 21.
"The show is renowned for finish the episode just a few days before they telecast," it said. "This style of working gives the "South Park" creators recent content and they can address the current news."
Meanwhile, iDigital Times noted that South Park will follow the same formula of success for the past seasons, although with a bit of difference.
"It's a short one, just a ten episode order, and it's no longer split into two parts, one in the spring and one in the fall," it said. "That was always a weird structure in the first place, but now, looking back on it, it was kind of nice."
In the present format, the animated series will air all 10 episodes in the fall for about 10 weeks.
There's a reason for the shortened season, and that's to give Matt Stone and Trey Parker more time to work on their other projects such as "Book of Mormon" and the video game "South Park: The Fractured but Whole."
Going almost two decades now, "South Park" still has a large following. But when will the creators think that it's time to walk away?
Parker commented that there won't be a huge special or a farewell episode.
"I think it's going to end with a fizzle, for sure," he said. "I think it's just going to end with some dud, and we're gonna go, 'F--- this, man,' and walk away."
Nevertheless, Comedy Central has yet to officially announce the release date for "South Park" season 20 and the creators have not given any hints either.
