‘Captain Marvel’ Cast: Rebecca Ferguson To Play Carol Danvers? Angelina Jolie Attached To Helm?

Actress Rebecca Ferguson is rumored to be the frontrunner for the role of Carol Danvers in the female superhero movie by Marvel Studios, "Captain Marvel," with Angelina Jolie attached to helm, as reported on KpopStarz.
The rumor mill is at it again with Marvel Studios announcing the upcoming big screen adaptation of the female-led superhero comic book, "Captain Marvel." Previously it has been rumored that "Edge of Tomorrow" actress Emily Blunt will taking on the role of Carol Davis, but it seems that another candidate has been named.
Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson is said to have been named to take on said role, according to a report on Heroic Hollywood. In addition, the media outlet wrote that the actress is currently Marvel Studios' "ideal choice" to give her take on Carol Danvers slash Captain Marvel.
This is not the first time that the actress will be offered a role in a superhero movie as she has also been named to be the frontrunner to take on the role of the female lead in the "X-Men" spinoff film "Gambit."
However, recent reports stated that Ferguson has turned down the project and has jumped onboard "Girl on the Train," an upcoming feature which also stars Blunt.
On the other hand, Jolie, who debuted as a director in the film "Unbroken," is also said to be attached to direct "Captain Marvel," OK! Magazine wrote.
An unnamed source allegedly stated that it is important for Marvel to have a female director to join the "Captain Marvel" cast, and Collider has cited that Warner Bros. is also planning to take the actress as the helmer of "Wonder Woman."
Furthermore, Jolie is said to have been offered $20 million to direct "Captain Marvel."
Marvel's "Captain Marvel" is said to be slated for theatrical release on Nov. 18, 2018.
