Megadeth's new album "Dystopia" is expected to sell more than 40k during it's first week of release in the U.S.

Noted by Blabbermouth, Hits Daily Double, a website for updates on the music industry, predicted that the "Dystopia" album of the American heavy metal band is to sell more than 40,000 albums in the United States in its first week. The website specifically predicted that sales in its first week will be between 43,000 and 48,000 copies.

On the other hand, SPS figure guessed that it will be in between 44,000 and 49,000. SPS is a practice used by Billboard Magazine and it stands for "sales plus streaming," meaning, it includes album sales and converted track sales plus streaming data conversion. SPS, though may be used widely by Billboard, is not currently applied by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) to establish how albums should be certified: they heavily rely on pure album sales and shipments alone.

The album features 11 brand new tracks and was on Jan. 22 released on both CD and LP as well as in digital sales through online partners on Universal Music Enterprise/Tradecraft/T-Boy Records.

Jon Dahusek of Consequence of Sound wrote about Megadeth's new album and although the tracks didn't sound like the band's classic material, "Dystopia" still has that "Megadeth" feel to it. "It's political without being overt, the production is strikingly heavy, and the good tracks outweigh the bad," Dahusek wrote.

The band's previous album "Super Collider," which was released in 2013, sold 29,000 copies in the US in its first week and managed to land at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Megadeth is formed in Los Angeles, California, and so far has produced 15 albums, including the new one, "Dystopia." They are regarded as one of the pioneering acts of the American thrash metal scene together with Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer, according to Wikipedia. Members of the band are Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Kiko Loureiro and Chris Adler.
