Apple TV Apps List For 2016 Announced; New Ones Added As Reviews Released!

Apple Inc. has recently rolled out its tvOS 9.2 beta 2 for the 2016 Apple TV with new apps listed.

The version is available for download on the third generation Apple TVs through the configurator.There is not many notable changes to the just released tvOS but for the inclusion of the Podcasts app. 

The company has rolled out pre-installed podcast app along with its third generation TV sets. It has allowed users to sync with their iTunes subscriptions on desktop and iOS so that they could easily follow them on their units too.

Ubergizmo suggests that the app might not have been ready when the time came to release the set top box and that was why the New TV sets didn't come out with the app pre-installed. And since reporting its arrival back in November last year, the new update has finally brought in the app to all its new TV sets.

It has two main components, The podcast directory and the user subscriptions. Incase of using iCLoud to sync podcast data, the Apple TV app now lists all your favourite subscriptions. Video podcasts are also included for 2016.

While the addition has gained positive reviews, negative ones have also been released.

"There are a few rough edges in the Podcasts app. First, Apple doesn't sync your position in unfinished podcasts," Roman Dillet of TechCrunch wrote. "Some podcasts tend to be quite long, and many people listen to them over multiple sessions. Instead, you'll have to scrub to where you were. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's not convenient."

"Similarly, you can listen to podcasts in the background, but you can't control playback," he added. "Once you pause your podcast, you can't start it again."

The Apple TV apps list for 2016 is said to be added with new ones as the months progress.
