Shonda Rhimes’ New Show Confirmed On ABC; Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet To Arrive At Shondaland?

ABC network has confirmed the next TV series produced by Shonda Rhimes. It is to be named "Still Star-crossed" and it will be based on Melinda Taub's novel of the same name.

The new series would be based on Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and it has been in development for some time now.

To add to that, numerous opinions have been released about the show's confirmation.

"ABC has agreed to a pilot of Still Star-Crossed and I think it would fit nicely into their Sunday night lineup if it works out," GOSSIP & GAB mentioned in their article.

According to the site, Shonda Rhimes will be bringing along her key team members consisting of writers Betsy Beers, Heather Mitchell and etcetera. Heather Mitchelle is going to write the script for the new show that takes place after the tragic fate of the lead characters and the new romances that form.

Her focus on the romance series will be a new challenge since her earlier ventures were focused on more matured characters. This new show will be the fifth of series produced by Rhimes. The previously renowned ones being "Grey's Anatomy," "Private Practice," "Scandal" and "How To Get Away With Murder."

According to the show's plot, the families involved in the story decide that the only way to terminate the bloody feud is by marriage. The two families pick up an unwilling yet good looking teen each. It is written in a melodrama-infused style which has been the hallmark of Shonda series'

"The drama, based on Melinda Taub's novel 'Still Star-Crossed,' will carry on the tale of Capulet and Montague, focusing on the two families' continued feud following the death of Romeo and Juliet" published Evelyn Diaz of The Bet.

To add to this new show, Shonda Rhimes' other project, "The Catch," is set to debut in the spring.
