'Star Wars: Episode VIII' Spoilers: Luke Skywalker's Plot To Get Darker Than In 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Fans who watched "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" may have been craving to know more about Luke Skywalker's plot. And according to spoilers, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will not only offer a deep - and dark - explanation to Luke Skywalker's self-exile.

Reports claimed that compared to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Luke Skywalker's story will be explored a lot more in "Star Wars: Episode VIII."

After all, the Jedi only appeared in the last few minutes of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and fans are itching to know how he got to his situation.

There are a lot of speculations as to Luke Skywalker's storyline and his connection with Rey. Steve Smith of Movie Pilot theorized that Rey is Luke's daughter and he offered a possible explanation about the Jedi's exile.

"I think he sent her away because of his visions," Smith wrote. "We know from the cave on Dagobah that he can see the future, although it's rather cryptic to him. This is one of the abilities the force manifests in Luke. Not every Jedi can use the force in the same manner."

"I believe he saw the downfall of his school, and knew that he had to do something to save Rey, so he sent her away," the article continued. "He also knew that, as long as she and he weren't together, the rest of the visions he had wouldn't come true. Now that she's found him, it's a clear indication that the future he wished to avoid was at hand."

Aside from the story content of "Star Wars: Episode VIII," there is also a lot to anticipate production wise especially since J.J. Abrams would step aside to give the floor to Rian Johnson.

"Rian Johnson is best known for writing and directing such movies as thriller Looper, high school noir Brick, and quirky family story The Brothers Bloom," Vox wrote. "Now he is stepping into the Star Wars-verse to follow up the literal biggest movie of all time."

"Abrams and the Star Wars cast have done their due diligence in assuring us that the franchise is in good hands with Johnson," the report added.

Fans who witnessed Luke Skywalker's fate in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" may be waiting quite a while before finding out the rest of his character's plot in "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which is scheduled to hit theaters December 2017.
