It has been nearly a decade since The Cure both released a new album and went on a major tour.

However, this might all come to an end as fans are eagerly waiting for any news regarding the band's latest album and the upcoming tour that they are planning for this 2016.

Fans of The Cure would be familiar with the fact that Robert Smith initially wanted their 2008 "4:13 Dream" record to be released as a double album, however, the latter half of it was never released, Vivid Seats reported.

As such, it was recently reported by RollingStone that the frontman confirmed that he still plans on releasing the other half of the album with a tentative title of "4:14 Scream."

"I'm trying to be convinced that I should release what is the second half of an album that effectively came out in 2008," Robert Smith explained during an interview with XFM. "It's a bit of a sore point, to be honest."

Smith further elaborated on how the latter half of the 2008 album was abandoned.

"Compiling a single CD album required a different approach (for one thing there was no longer the time to 'spread out' and connect the different moods as I had originally intended)," the singer-songwriter stated.

"And as a consequence, a number of (my favorite!) slower songs and instrumental pieces were left unfinished and unreleased."

Although there has not been an official announcement regarding The Cure's new album having a definite release date, there has been speculations by fans that it might be coming soon as their 2016 tour would also feature unreleased tracks as detailed in a fan forum called Cure Fans.

"Current news info from the band homepage does indeed give hope for a new album "soonish" (not quite sure if before or after the tour)," a forum member posted who goes by the username, Ulrich.

He further quoted the details regarding the 2016 tour of The Cure, which states the following,

"'THE CURE TOUR 2016' will present Robert Smith (voice/guitar), Simon Gallup (bass), Jason Cooper (drums), Roger O'Donnell (keys) and Reeves Gabrels (guitar) as they explore 37 years of Cure songs, mixing hits, rarities, favourites and as yet unreleased tracks in a brand new stage production that promise to be the 'must see' show of the year!" The Cure posted.
