Apple's Lawsuit Against Samsung Won By Former; Sale Of Latter's Old Units Banned!

Apple And Samsung Agree To End Legal Disputes Outside The US

Apple has officially won the Lawsuit against Samsung to Ban several smartphones in the U.S.

The South Korean Company has received a ban on several devices in the United States. One month from Now, this ban would come into action.

The devices under the ban are so old, however, the legal order will not affect the marketplace in any meaningful way.

The injunction by US District Judge Lucy Koh is a part of the long-running dispute between Apple and Samsung, resulting in a Lawsuit. She entered the injunction order as the high court mandated. However, the banned devices and features remain irrelevant to Samsung (of Today).

"The court finds that Apple will suffer irreparable harm if Samsung continues to use its use of the infringing features, that monetary damages cannot adequately compensate Apple for this resulting irreparable harm, and that the balance of equities and public interest favor entry of a permanent injunction," according to the judge, as cited by Softpedia.

Samsung has several devices including the Galaxy S II and Galaxy S III, that were accused of infringing data detection or linking feature or the 'quick links' patent. Since there was a one month grace period until Samsung must put the injunction in effect, the company can safely ignore the patent.

The other one was the 'slide to unlock' patent - the one place where the company will likely try a design around. But once again, it is effective only for older devices like the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II and Admire.

There are places that still sell these old devices. For instance, Best Buy sells versions of these phones where it was found to infringe Apple patents. But it is also believed that these products hardly matter anymore to the tech company

While it may not impact their customers anymore, the competing company has said that they are not pleased with how their rivalling company has gotten its win over them in the patent war.

A Samsung spokesperson told Bloomberg's South Korea bureau that they are displeased with the results.

"We are very disappointed," said the spokesperson about the lawsuit with Apple. The statement was cited by ArsTechnica

"While this will not impact American consumers, it is another example of Apple abusing the judicial system to create a bad legal precedent, which can harm consumer choice for generations to come," he added.
