‘Fire Emblem: Fates’ Special Edition Pre-Orders Cancelled! GameStop Experiences System Glitch
Gamers all around are at the edge of their seats as they patiently wait for their pre-ordered release of the acclaimed Nintendo tactical role-playing game, "Fire Emblem: Fates" Special Edition.
However, recent news regarding the pre-orders of the game might be an issue to those expecting their products to be released on time as it was reported that renowned video game retailer and reseller GameStop has cancelled some of the purchases.
It was noted that the popularity and rarity of "Fire Emblem: Fates" Special Edition has reached new heights with reports that the pre-orders were quickly selling out and its price tag further increasing through eBay and other resale markets, Attack of the Fanboy reported.
The source also pointed out that GameStop was forced to cancel a number of pre-ordered "Fire Emblem: Fates" Special Edition and gave its affected customers notices in the past few days, which informed them that the cutoff date was on Nov. 18, 2015.
An image of the notice sent to employees of GameStop was released online via Reddit explaining that the store recently experienced a system glitch, which resulted to an "over-reservation" of the game.
"Due to the popularity of 'Fire Emblem', we quickly reached our allocation on this Special Edition after reservations were first turned on," the notice detailed as posted by Reddit user mydpy via Imgur. "Once we met our allocation on 11/18/15, reservations for this Special Edition were turned off."
"Unfortunately, due to a system glitch, this SKU was mistakenly turned back on for reserve after 11/18/15, and additional reservations were taken in stores. Due to this glitch, we over-reserved on this Special Edition in stores, and unfortunately, will not have enough product to cover these additional reserves."
"Any customer that reserved the 'Fire Emblem' Special Edition in stores after 11/18/15 will not receive this product."
Movie Pilot reported that the "Fire Emblem: Fates" Special Edition bundle was reported to include all three games including, "Revelation," "Conquest" and "Birthright," as well as an artbook and a little pouch carrier for the Nintendo 3DS XL.
