Despite a rousing performance from current MVP Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors was not able to stop the Detroit Pistons from handing them their second defeat in three games and fourth overall of the season.

Stephen Curry's stats were nothing short of impressive as the MVP posted 38 points, seven rebounds and 5 assists. The other half of the Splash Brothers duo, Klay Thompson, added 24 points and six rebounds. The rest of the team contributed as much as they could with Festus Ezeli posting a double-double figure with 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

A pre-game analysis of the matchup focused on how the Pistons' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will guard the reigning league MVP. Golden State Warriors' star player Stephen Curry's 38 points proved that Caldwell-Pope's relentless defense is no match to the MVP's offensive firepower.

In order to make balance playing field, Caldwell-Pope instead focused on boosting his team's offense and contributed 20 points, five rebounds and a couple of assists.

In a statement acquired by Yahoo Sports, Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said, "I think we know that we're capable of beating anybody. The difference between the Golden States, San Antonios, Clevelands of the world and where we are right now, is you've got to do it night after night after night after night after night, and that's our challenge."

Following the loss against the Pistons, the Stephen Curry-led Golden State Warriors posted a 37-4 win-loss record which is just win shy of the best 41-game start in the NBA history. The 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls and the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers both started with a 38-3 record.

During the halftime, former Detroit bigman Ben Wallace retired his number 3 jersey. Wallace played a detrimental role in helping the Pistons to win the 2004 NBA Champions title according to Alabama Local News.

The rest of the Pistons squad performed well throughout the game with five more players scoring double figures. Andre Drummond performed exceptionally well on the boards grabbing 21 rebounds and added 14 points.

The regulation ended with a 133-95 blowout win for the Pistons.
