Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Rolls Out To HTC One M8(Asia); Sony Xperia Z3, Z4, Z5 Are Next
Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is slowly rolling out in several Android devices. Reportedly, HTC already deployed the OTA for HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 users in Asia, Android Authority reported.
According to Android and Me, HTC One M8 owners can now download the 1.14GB software update through OTA. HTC brings a minor alteration to Android 6.0 Marshmallow through its HTC Sense UI. Android M on HTC devices features Google Now on Tap and "ability to increase the system storage on the phone with the new adaptive storage feature."
In addition, its key feature Doze power saving feature extends the smartphone's battery life by 30% or depending on the device's internal hardware, IB Times added.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow is currently rolling out to HTC One A9, One M8, and One M9 in Asia. While HTC One M9+, E9+, E9, ME, E8, One M8 Eye, Butterfly 3, Desire 826, Desire 820 and Desire 816 owners have to wait a little longer as these devices are listed to receive the update too.
Reportedly, the same firmware build number will also arrive to European variants of the HTC One M8 and One M9 along with carrier released variants some time next week.
Meanwhile, US carriers versions of the phone has been listed to be on Certification Stage for testing and approval, Android and Me added.
On the other hand, Sony Xperia devices are said to receive to OTA soon as the firmware build is almost done, Mobi Picker reported.
Sony Xperia Z3, Z4, Z5, C5 Ultra and M5 are among the Xperia devices that has been confirmed to be included in the list.
Sony also announced last year that its selected flagship devices will skip the Android 5.1 Lollipop update straight to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, the Sony Xperia C4 has been spotted running on Lollipop, GSM Arena reported.
