Four years since the debut of the X-Series mirrorless cameras, the Fujifilm X-Pro2 has finally been released and reviews have come in.

Despite providing multiple firmware updates, the camera has attained as close to classic status as any digital body is capable of. Being the successor to X-Pro 1, the unit goes straight to the top of the X-series line.

According to its specs mentioned in Imaging Resource, the camera has a brand new body featuring twin-dial operation. It resembles the previous version in its basic layout of the front deck. However, the addition of a control ddial above the handgrip is the indication about the new body design.

The new unit is a little bigger than the previous version in all dimensions as well. It has a better handgrip which adds 3.4 mm to the depth. Though you may not be able to really notice the difference, the increase in weight could be felt, at some 45 grams extra (approximately 11%).

As to its weather-sealing features, changes in the new design includes its four-piece magnesium alloy body with a minimum 61 different seals that help prevent ingress of water splashes or dust. This new feature enables shooting in harsh environments, even below freezing temperatures (14* F/-10*C)

In a review publsihed by TheVerge, The Fujifilm X-Pro2 is the first camera in the X-Series that can go over 16 megapixels.

"[The Unit] is the first new X-Trans sensor since the X-Trans CMOS II chip introduced on the X100S," an excerpt read. "The new camera's autofocus system has 273 points, 77 of which use phase detection and cover around 40 percent of the frame. The maximum mechanical shutter speed has been doubled to 1/8000 seconds, with an increased flash sync speed of up to 1/250 seconds"

According to other reviews, its features include the following:

Tweaks to top-deck control dials with retro design and ISO sensitivity lens.

A Top shutter speed of 1/8000 second and a wider exposure compensation range of +/- 3EV.

The use of a rear deck which is totally overhauled. The LCD monitor at the very left of the device's body, leaving more room for controls at the right.

A joystick control used to make autofocus point selections.

The camera has amazing reviews about its updated On-screen GUI and a brand new imaging pipeline, making it take a healthy step forward in its performance with its wider sensitivity range and improved autofocus capabilities.

Before the reviews got released, the Fujifilm X-Pro 2 has been announced to the U.S markets from February 2016 priced at US $1700.
