"Friends" fans who have been waiting for a very long time will surely be ecstatic to know that in February 2016, a two-hour special that will become a sort of the cast's reunion, will be shown on NBC, according to Entertainment Weekly. The announcement of this special comeback was made at the Television Critics Association's press tour in Pasadena on Wednesday.

The said two-hour-TV special is supposed to highlight the works of the legendary comedy James Burrows who, aside from "Friends," also contributed to other popular comedy series such as "Taxi," "The Bob Newhart Show" and "Cheers." Burrows had directed 15 episodes of "Friends" including and recently just filmed his 1,000th episode of television.

Although the NBC special is all about Burrows and his works, the cast of "Friends" reunion this 2016 is what created the buzz amongst loyal fans, as there are still many who are anticipating for the six main characters to unite once again.

The said sitcom was launched in 1994 and ran for 10 good seasons. All six of the original cast members will be present, and these are Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer.

In a report by MTV, TV Line's Michael Ausiello said that the cast will all appear together for the reunion on Feb. 21 in Los Angeles. Aside from the cast of "Friends," other cast members of other Burrows-directed shows will be present as well. The TV special is also going to reunite the casts of "Taxi," "Cheers," "Frasier" and "Will & Grace."

But according to Entertainment Weekly, the cast might not be together in the special. There were efforts then to bind all six "Friends" reunion before but have been proven difficult to do. However, fans are still hopeful that NBC can manage to pull it off this 2016. "I'm hoping all six will be in same room at same time," said Robert Greenblatt, the entertainment chairman for the picture company. "I'm not sure we can logistically pull it off."
