One Direction Break Up For Good? Singers Prepare For Solo Careers Like Zayn Malik
The remaining members of One Direction announced late last year that they are taking a time off, but now rumors are circulating that the breakup will be permanent as they embark on their respective solo careers, just like Zayn Malik.
What was initially billed as a hiatus was extended into a long break as the time apart from each other gave the One Direction members a new perspective about what they wanted their careers to be, an article from Us Weekly claimed.
"The 1D thing just ran its course. They'll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers," the alleged source claimed. "Liam is really interested in songwriting and production. Harry is launching a career in acting and singing."
The remaining members of One Direction include Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson. Zayn Malik left the band last year to embark on a solo career.
But a rep for One Direction denied that the breakup will be permanent.
"The story is fabrication and speculation. One Direction have clarified the situation on numerous occasions now," the rep told UK's Reveal.
In November, One Direction has announced that it's cancelling its forthcoming tours to give the remaining members time to spend with their families.
Back then, Niall Horan and Harry Styles were forced to issue a clarification after rumors surfaced that the announcement was a permanent breakup and not just the hiatus that One Direction members led fans to believe.
"We're not breaking up. We're literally taking time out to see our friends and see our family and reflect on what we've done over the last few years," Niall Horan told Entertainment Tonight.
"I think it's important for us to take the break and have it as a break," Harry Styles said of the One Direction breakup. "Obviously it would be naive of us to think that people aren't going to read into that in a ton of different ways, but we're just gonna take a little break next year."
