'Outlander' Golden Globes Snubs Anger Season 2 Fans? Sam Heughan Not Dating Caitriona Balfe
"Outlander" season 2 was a total shutout at the Golden Globes, but fans have a healthy perspective about the whole thing. Meanwhile, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have denied the suggestions that they are dating in real life.
Fans aired their sentiments on a Reddit thread, "[No spoilers] No love for Outlander at the Globes (self.Outlander)"
"Outlander went 0/3 sadly, losing to Mr. Robot, Taraji P. Hebson, and Christian Slater. I'm most disappointed for Tobias Menzies--I'm sure Catriona and the show will be nominated again, but this was so Tobias's year. Oh well, at least they were nominated, and hopefully the recognition will make the Emmys take note next year!" the description read.
"I loved watching how happy Team Outlander was just to be there! Looks like they had a great time," one wrote about the "Outlander" snub at the Golden Globes.
"I just think there are a ton of good shows that weren't nominated for any category so yes, in this case, it is an honor to be nominated," another fan said. "I would have loved it if someone won something but truly, tough categories."
Nevertheless, Sam Heughan and Caitriona are more concerned about the rumors about them dating, rather than the Golden Globes snub of the "Outlander" with season 2 coming soon.
The pair talked to E! News as they denied the dating rumors.
"We're not together," she said. "It's funny. We've always said from the get go that we're incredibly great friends. And to have that friendship and that closeness and to be able to get along as we do on set, it's great that we're able to get along that well. We're not together."
"I'm sorry to break people's hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together."
"I think it's strange, isn't it?" Sam Heughan said of the idea of him dating Caitriona Balfe. "Because I think people buy into the show and us saying it's not real, they feel like they've been duped. It's like, 'You acted it. You lied to us!' And I'm like, 'Well, sorry!'"
"Outlander" season 2 will return in April this year.
