'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Episode 11: Mayim Bialik Addresses Amy And Sheldon's Sex Scene!
Who would ever think "The Big Bang Theory's" Amy and Sheldon ("Shamy") are capable of a "50 Shades of Grey" worthy sex scene? Certainly not actress Mayim Bialik (Amy)! On Season 9 Episode 11, the show's nerdy couple share a tender and intimate moment in bed!
Mayim Bialik, who plays the role of neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler in the hit comedy series, recently talked about the most-awaited relationship milestone in Sheldon and Amy's relationship - engaging in coitus (a.k.a sex) - in her website, GrokNation.com.
Mayim Bialik openly admitted she liked Amy and Sheldon's asexual relationship before "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 Episode 11, due to her own upbringing.
"I come from a family where I was taught that sex was reserved for marriage. It's my culture, it's my religion, it's the way I was brought up," Bialik explained.
However, Mayim Bialik praised the way "Big Bang Theory" writers and producers tailored Season 9 Episode 11 in a tender way.
"I commend our writers and producers for making this episode so gentle and so delicate and so well-thought-out," Bialik wrote. "It's not 'just sex' for Amy and Sheldon. It's the kind of kissing and loving that mommies and daddies do, as Sheldon says."
As to whether or not Sheldon and Amy had great sex, Mayim Bialik said it's not about the specifics of their characters' relationship milestone. After all, "The Big Bang Theory" isn't "50 Shades of Grey."
"It's actually not what the first time you have sex is about either, for either person," Bialik wrote in another article. "Anyone who has waited a long time to have sex will tell you that once you have decided to have sex for the first time with someone you love and are committed to in a way that a longer term commitment facilitates, it's a heavy moment."
She added: "It's not about making it like a scene from Fifty Shades of Grey at all."
Now that Amy and Sheldon's highly-anticipated sex scene is done, Mayim Bialik said she's excited to go back to doing regular "Shamy" scenes.
"I honestly will be happy to go back to all of the kinds of things we did before the breakup-funny scenes, touching scenes, scenes with the whole gang," she told CBS about episode 11 of "The Big Band Theory."
