Mercedes introduces their new E-Class during a media preview before the start of the North American International Auto Show.

Daimler AG finally took the wraps off the highly anticipated 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class on Sunday at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The car packs some serious power under its hood with an engine capable of outputting up to 241 horsepower.

Car analysts consider the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class as the follow up to the C-Class series. Both sports almost identical exterior aesthetics coupled with meticulous and top-quality interior material design.

The new 2017 E-Class will serve as the benchmark for future models released under the series. Just like the C-Class and the S-Class, the E-class sports serious metal accents highlighted by the wood trim design of the dash.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will hit the United States market sporting the turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine. It boasts 241-horsepower and 273-pound-foot worth of torque. The car has a standard 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission.

Rumors claim that the E250 and E300 are already slated to hit the US market. However, there are speculations claiming that the E400, E200d and E350e will also make their US debut along with the two previously mentioned models.

In a statement acquired by Auto Blog, Mercedes-Benz said, "The E-Class is the core of the Mercedes-Benz brand and in the past has repeatedly redefined the standards in the business-class segment. Now it carries this tradition into the future with a wealth of top-class innovations."

On the tech aspect, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has some pretty serious features. First is the Drive Pilot, which is a semi-autonomous drive system that can handle highway driving with speeds up to 130 miles per hour. Just like the recently unveiled BMW 7-Series, the 2017 E-Class can also park and unpark itself using a smartphone app, according to The Verge.

The interior centerpiece of the 2017 E-Class is the 12.3-inch display that controls the most of the cars tech functions. Mercedes-Benz also added some touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel that can be operated via simple swiping motions.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will hit the US market in the middle of the year.
