According to the source quoted in the news report, Patrick Dempsey and Jennifer Garner reportedly had off-screen chemistry back when they filmed the 2009 movie "Valentines."
Though many fans may be happy for Patrick Dempsey, some critics can't help but think - is he using the "13 Going on 30" actress for fame after his "Grey's Anatomy" exit and purported feud with former co-star Ellen Pompeo?
Before the premiere of the current season of "Grey's Anatomy," Ellen Pompeo seems to have dissed Patrick Dempsey in an interview about how the show would hold up even without Dr. Derek Shepherd.
"It's like, Annalise Keating carries the show, Olivia Pope carries the show," Ellen Pompeo previously told Entertainment Weekly. "But somehow, Meredith Grey needs someone."
"Why can't I just be the lead of the show the way Annalise and Olivia can? Why can't I be on that poster by myself," the actress added.
Ellen Pompeo referred to the other two Shonda Rhimes shows in the TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday) block - Annalise Keating, played by Viola Davis, on "How to Get Away With Murder," and Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, in "Scandal."
Despite speculations, many fans believe that Dempsey and Garner's reported blooming romance could be genuine especially since the former "Grey's Anatomy" actor doesn't seem to need any push when it comes to fame and popularity.
In fact, many fans are regularly monitoring news about Patrick Dempsey's upcoming movie, "Bridget Jones's Baby," alongside Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth.
